Thomas Tuchel Questions Home Crowd Support Following Comfortable Wales Victory.

The England head coach shared his sadness that the England team did not enjoy greater encouragement from the home crowd during their decisive friendly win against Wales on Thursday evening.

The manager was happy to see his team showcase their good form, with finishes from Rogers, Watkins, and Bukayo Saka inside the initial stages effectively ending the match. However, he was unhappy with the energy at the iconic venue.

“We had limited sessions to prepare against a organized team and we did very well,” Tuchel commented. “We could have been 5-0 up at the break. We missed the fourth and fifth ones. It was quiet. There was no any energy back from the stands. Our team gave their all to win.”

“How much more can you provide in the first quarter? We didn’t let them escape. When you only hear just Wales fans for 30 minutes, it’s sad because the squad deserved more support today.”

“I stand by this statement. There’s nothing more than being 3-0 in a derby. I hoped for a greater backing in periods where it becomes tough.”

“After halftime, to support us, there was a bit too much backing for the opposition. It might have aided us to refocus, but that’s football and so be it.”

Squad Decisions Justified by Display

Apart from potentially starting a dispute among fans, the manager also raised eyebrows by leaving out Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden from his team selection. However the move was backed up by Morgan Rogers impressing again in the No 10 position and netting his first international goal.

“He plays his game,” Tuchel noted. “He operates as an attacking midfielder and he is competing for his spot.”

Wales Manager Hopes for Improvement from Defeat

Craig Bellamy expressed hope that his team, who host a strong Belgian side in a important World Cup qualifier on next week, learn from their poor performance in the opening period.

“This is why I scheduled this match,” the manager stated. “I need to see where we are. What are our ambitions? Who do we want to be? This performance fills me with motivation.”

Injury Concern for Watkins

Ollie Watkins was withdrawn at the break after clattering into a post and will be a doubt when England play their next opponents in Riga in a World Cup qualifying match on next week.
